Luc Jones, Antal International Russia partner

Luc Jones, Antal International Russia Partner will perform on the conference “HR in Russia: Personnel and Employment” which will take place in Oslo, October 23. The conference is being jointly organized by Norway’s largest law firm, Selmer Law and the Russo-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce and will be well attended by major corporations. Luc Jones will be speaking on how to secure the best candidates, and of equal importance how to avoid staff turnover.

“Despite the business successes, too many myths, illusions and negative rumours persist, - says Luc Jones. - Additionally the labour market in Russia is currently experiencing a serious shortage in talent for most key mid-to-senior level roles. This conference aims to assist Norwegian firms who are either in Russia and looking to grow, or thinking of entering the market in how to overcome such difficulties”.
Many people overlook the fact that Russia & Norway are genuine neighbours in more than just a physical sense. The Northern tip of Norway may be just one of 14 countries that border the world’s largest nation, yet there are numerous other factors these two states share.

Apart from the obvious of cold climates and lengthy, lonely coastlines Norway & Russia are blessed with an abundance of natural resources but which are located in hard-to-reach places. Consequently they are now working together to exploit this hidden wealth, and are learning from each other how best to utilise their strengths for mutual benefit, and this has resulted in huge inward investment in both directions. “Since the fall of communism, numerous Norwegian giants have entered the Russian market, - explains Jones. - Energy majors Statoil & Norsk Hydro are large players with many oil & gas services companies such as Roxar & Aker Kvaener following suit. In telecoms, Telenor have a large stake in Russia’s second largest mobile operator Vimpelcom. And Norway’s largest law firm, Selmer Law have followed their clients eastward, resulting in them finally opening an office in Moscow last year”.

With Antal having been present in Russia for 14 years, boasting a professional staff of 100+ in our Moscow office and having recruited for many international blue-chip companies we are in the strongest position to deliver results for clients who need to hire high value nationals.
