First trial results of human embryonic stem cells

Great steps have been announced in the development and application of human embryonic Stem Cells.  Fergus Walsh from the BBC reports:

“After more than a decade of waiting, the first results of a trial involving human embryonic stem cells have been published in a medical journal.

The Lancet reports how two women in the USA with eye disease were injected with stem cells and both apparently showed some slight improvement in vision. The company Advanced Cell Technology (ACT) says the patients are doing well four months on from the trial.

This is a significant moment because there has been so much expectation about human embryonic stem cells – which have the potential to turn into any tissue in the body.

It has been a controversial area of research  …” See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16700394 for the full details.

The impact these results have is significant not only for the future of patient care, the medical industry but for all those that service this industry. Although there is a very long way to go before this process can be applied on a wider spectrum, this does open the doors for further controlled trials and investment. For the companies and research facilities involved in this progressive medicine the doors will be opened for future talent acquisition and development to give up and coming professionals the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. What an exciting area to be involved in and an area that I am sure will lead the way in some major medical “Miracles to come”

If you are working in these areas and wish to discuss talent or career progressions please get in touch.
